The sixth phase 48-hour nationwide blockade, enforced by the BNP and its allies demanding a free, fair and neutral election under a non-party government, started from 6am today.

Addressing a virtual press briefing, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday said the government wants to divert BNP’s movement elsewhere by shifting blame for violence and arson attacks to the BNP men.

“The government is afraid of the spontaneous support and participation of people in our ongoing peaceful movement. BNP strongly condemns the violence carried out by Awami League, through misusing the state machinery. We demand a fair and neutral investigation into every terrorist incident,” he said.

The BNP leader said that over 475 leaders and activists of the opposition were arrested, 15 cases were filed and 1720 were accused in the cases across the country in the past 24 hours till Tuesday afternoon.
