Today marks the beginning of the nation's campaign to vaccinate against the human papillomavirus (HPV) and help prevent deaths from cervical cancer.

The vaccination programme will be launched at a function at the NIPSOM auditorium in Mohakhali, the capital, at 11 a.m. by Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque.

The vaccinations will be given to girls between the ages of 10 and 15 in Dhaka division in the first phase, Chattogram division in the second phase, and Barishal division in the third phase.

On Monday, the campaign will begin with registration on the vaxepi.gov.bd website. On the day of registration, six girls will receive the vaccine as part of a trial.
