Dengue infection: 17 more deaths in a 24-hour period, pushing the death toll over 1000

According to the health department, during the last 24 hours until 8 a.m. on Sunday, 2,882 new patients were admitted to various hospitals across the nation, and 17 more dengue patients passed away.

The Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) stated in a handout on Sunday evening that of the new fatalities, nine patients passed away while receiving care at various hospitals in the capital Dhaka and eight outside of it.

With the new deaths, the dengue caseload had reached 2,06,288 as of Sunday, bringing the total number of deaths this year to 1,006 cases.

According to a statement from the DGHS, during that time, 2,253 patients were admitted to various hospitals outside of the capital, while 629 dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka city.

According to the DGHS, 3,120 of the 9,357 dengue patients receiving treatment at various hospitals are located in the nation's capital, Dhaka, and 6,237 are not.
