Drive against irregularities of private hospitals

The health directorate has shut down 164 different types of private healthcare facilities including private hospitals in allegation of running activities without valid permission.
At the same time, the Directorate General of Hospital (DGHS) conducted drives against irregularities at 2,046 healthcare facilities across the country in the past week, the health directorate sources said.
During the drive, the health authorities have shut down 146 different types of health care facilities including private hospitals and fined Tk 49 lakh and 50 thousand.
The DGHS started the drive against irregularities of private hospitals, clinics, , diagnostic centres, blood banks and fake doctors across the country including in Dhaka from September 18.
In latest development, a six member team of the DGHS led by its director (hospital) Habibul Ahsan Talukder on Tuesday conducted a drive against DPRC hospital in city’s Shaymoli area.
They shut down the healthcare facility in allegation of running the activities without valid permission, using date-expired reagent for tests.
At the same time, one Shafiullah was giving treatment at the hospital as physiotherapist without any MBBS degree and no MBDC registration as doctor.
Meanwhile, a mobile court on Tuesday sealed off Deep General Hospital in Sreepur bus stand area in Savar on charges of various irregularities including charging extra for dengue tests.
