Dengue infection: 14 patients die, 2,865 hospitanised in a day

In the last 24 hours until Saturday morning, fourteen more dengue patients died and 2,865 people with the fever were admitted to hospitals across the country.

According to data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), six of the fourteen deaths occurred in Dhaka and eight occurred outside the capital.

It was reported that the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease has now reached 893, making this the deadliest year since the first epidemic was recorded in 2000.

This year, there have been 1,84,717 total cases.

814 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka, while 2,052 patients were admitted to hospitals elsewhere.

This year, a total of 1,73,252 patients have been discharged from hospitals across the country.

In 2022, the country recorded 281 dengue-related fatalities, compared to 179 in 2019.

Moreover, the DGHS recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries during the previous year.
