Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader today alleged that BNP continues a deep-rooted conspiracy to make the country isolated from the rest of the world by hiring lobbyists abroad spending millions of dollars.
"By hiring lobbyist firms investing millions of dollars, BNP is conducting a deep conspiracy to make Bangladesh isolated from the entire world through its continuous slander and falsehood against the country," he said in a statement.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said BNP leaders, including its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, are involved in shameless falsehood and propaganda over the historic visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Bangladesh and Bangladesh's remarkable diplomatic success at the recent BRICS and G-20 summits.
BNP leaders got irritated as their plots were foiled due to the talent of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said, adding that the Premier's participation in the recent BRICS conference held in South Africa and the G20 meet in India has brought honour and proud to the country.
The AL general secretary said the visible presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in these summits attracted the special attention of global leaders through which her dignified position and efficient leadership were recognised at world level.
He said French President Emmanuel Macron and other world leaders praised the bold leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter, Sheikh Hasina.
Under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, he said, democracy is flourishing in Bangladesh, while remarkable democratic progress is being achieved.
Quader said when the world leaders are expanding their friendly relations with Bangladesh as development partner, the BNP-Jamaat evil forces are carrying out multifaceted propaganda against the country as part of their deep-rooted conspiracy. "It was reflected in Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's statements," he added.
He said Sheikh Hasina has reached Bangladesh a new height through her honesty, dedication, efficiency and work plan in governing the state.
Mega projects are being implemented to fulfill the expectations and dreams of the country's people, the road transport and bridges minister said, adding that people are enjoying the benefits of all implemented mega projects, including Padma Bridge, Metrorail and Dhaka Elevated Expressway.
"As these mega projects were implemented, the BNP leaders got annoyed," he said, adding that when a political party becomes bankrupt and derails from its principles, its leaders can burn internally because of the implementation of these projects, which are changing the fate of commoners.
Quader said BNP is gradually sinking in the ocean of despair since the acceptance of Sheikh Hasina's development journey and her leadership is on the rise in the international arena.
"That is why they (BNP leaders) are presenting false, fabricated and distorted information about development projects to mislead the nation," he said.
The AL general secretary said the country's people did not forget that BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia made falsehood against the Padma Bridge project by writing an anti-state column in the Washington Times.
"BNP was in power for a long time but they did not make any significant developments. Instead, the party established a reign of corruption and looting," he said.
