Pathao and Uber on Wednesday announced a joint campaign to ensure higher safety standards for the Bangladesh ridesharing industry alongside enhancing experience for customers.
In the first phase, these two ridesharing companies will come together to raise awareness about various existing rideshare safety mechanisms and measures, available on both platforms.
These include trackable, insured rides with verified details of the drivers and vehicles, and stringent mandatory document validation standards which the companies believe make ridesharing trips a safer method of transportation, according to a media statement issued on Wednesday.
Pathao and Uber will also roll out a common driver partner training module to the entire base of drivers on their platforms. The goal is to educate driver partners about how they can help ensure their own safety as well as the safety of riders.
The training module will include general guidelines for motor vehicle movement, traffic signs and how to use them, implications of violating traffic and road safety rules, and various other relevant topics in accordance with the regulations.
Fahim Ahmed, CEO of Pathao said: “We have always prioritized the safety of our riders and passengers and undertaken different collaborative approaches with government and non-government entities. We strongly believe that this collaboration with Uber will help us to set a higher industry standard for safety and ensure quality rides for all.”
Armanur Rahman, head of Bangladesh & East India, Uber, said: “Safety and magical user experience have always been our top priority. Since its inception, the ridesharing industry has gained people’s trust and confidence successfully because of the safety and convenience we provide during every ride.”
He added: “We are thrilled to join hands with Pathao to raise that bar even higher. We have to improve the safety of our own platform alongside new industry standards for safety. We in collaboration with Pathao are aligned to make ridesharing safer for the people of Bangladesh.”
Since its inception, ridesharing has become a popular option for local transportation, largely because of the safety features it incorporates. And this is just the beginning of a long-term collaboration between Uber and Pathao, aimed at continually raising the bar in the industry towards enhancing rider and driver experience on respective platforms.
