National election schedule, not earlier than the last week of October: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal stated that the schedule for the 12th parliamentary election will not be announced until the last week of October in 2018.

Sunday afternoon in Agargaon, he made the remark while speaking to reporters at the Election Commission Secretariat.

Additionally, the CEC stated that the next national elections would be held during the last week of December this year, or the first week of January 2024.

According to the constitution, if the current parliament is still in place on January 29, 2024, the next national election must be held within the previous ninety days. This year, the countdown to the twelfth national election will begin on November 1.
