Rukmini Maitra has been cast as Draupadi in an upcoming film.

Rukmini Maitra, a well-known actor from Tollywood, will play the title role in director Ram Kamal Mukherjee's upcoming feminist adaptation of the "Mahabharata" titled "Draupadi" in Bengali.

 

Based on Pratibha Ray's acclaimed 1984 Odiya novel "Yajnaseni: The Story of Draupadi," "Draupadi" tells the story of the legendary female character Draupadi in the ancient Indian epic "Mahabharata."

For Rukmini Maitra, reuniting with Ram Kamal after "Binodiini" is a pleasure, as she finds comfort in portraying challenging characters on screen. She considers it an honor to be part of a project centered around "Mahabharata," which holds deep significance for every Indian. Maitra is excited to take on one of the most demanding roles of her career after "Binodiini."

Currently, "Binodiini" is in its post-production phase, while "Draupadi" is gearing up for four months of pre-production and workshops. With a team passionate about bringing this timeless tale to the silver screen, anticipation is high for the film's release.
