Sylhet and Rajshahi city voting are ongoing

City Corporation elections in Sylhet and Rajshahi began using electronic voting machines (EVMs) on Wednesday morning.
The voting began at 8 a.m. and will continue uninterrupted until 4 p.m.
Four candidates are vying for the position of mayor in Rajshahi, where AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, a candidate for the Awami League, is clearly in the lead to complete his hat trick. In addition, there are approximately 112 candidates for general councillor and 46 for reserved women councillor positions in the city's 30 wards.
In a city of 96.72 square kilometers, there are 351,982 voters. There are 171,167 males, 180,809 females, and six transgender individuals.
Awami League candidate Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury and Jatiya Party candidate Nazrul Islam Babul will face off for the position of mayor in Sylhet, though five other candidates are also running.
In addition to these candidates, there are 273 general councillor candidates in 42 wards and 87 reserved women councillor candidates in 14 reserved wards in the Sylhet city election. The total number of registered voters in this 79.50-square-kilometer city is 486,605. There are 253,763 males and 232,842 females total.
As in Gazipur, Barishal, and Khulna, the RCC and SCC elections are being conducted using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and there are sufficient numbers of CCTV cameras installed at all polling stations.
Delwar Hossain, the returning officer for the RCC elections, stated, "A total of 3,614 officials are conducting the voting." Approximately 1,560 CCTV cameras and 1,730 EVMs have been installed in polling stations, and troubleshooting officers will be on hand to address any technical issues.
Faisal Qadir, the regional election officer for Sylhet and returning officer for the SCC elections, stated that all preparations have been made to conduct peaceful elections.
Five tiers of security measures have been implemented to ensure the polls are peaceful and free of danger. According to security officials, approximately 5,500 law enforcement officers will perform their duties during the RCC election, while only 2,600 will do so during the SCC election.
