KCC citizens once again elect Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque

In the Khulna City Corporation election held on Monday, AL-backed candidate Talukder Abdul Khaleque was re-elected as mayor for a third term.

Khaleque had a landslide victory over Islami Andolan Bangladesh's Moulana Abdul Awal.

Md. Alauddin, the city's returning officer, made an unofficial announcement of the results tonight (Monday) from the District Shilpokola Academy Auditorium control room, where votes from all 289 polling centers were counted.

Talukder Abdul Khaleque, whose party symbol was a boat, received 1,54,825 votes, while Moulana Abdul Awal, whose symbol was a hand fan, received 60,064.

The RO also mentioned that 47.89% of registered voters in the KCC polls (2,56,433) actually cast their ballots.

Talukder Abdul Khaleque, a seasoned politician, was victorious in 2008 and again in 2018.
