The second-oldest men's finalist in the history of the French Open, Novak Djokovic defeated an injured Carlos Alcaraz on Friday with scores of 6-2, 5-7, 6-1, and 6-1 to move closer to a record-tying 23rd Grand Slam triumph.

If Djokovic defeats Casper Ruud or Alexander Zverev in the Sunday final, he will surpass the record that he and Rafael Nadal currently hold for the most men's Grand Slam victories.

The 36-year-old Serb can also surpass Nadal as the oldest champion of the competition and reclaim the top spot from Alcaraz, who was severely constrained by cramp in the final two sets.
