After a two-day break, Bangladesh's cricket team will be joined by head coach Chandika Hathurusingha as they resume their training camp in Mirpur today.

Hathurusingha, who returned to Dhaka yesterday after a break, is expected to expedite the preparation for the upcoming one-off Test against Afghanistan despite the fact that a 26-member preliminary squad had already begun training under recently appointed assistant coach Nick Pothas.

All other Tigers coaching staff members had already arrived at the camp, and pace-bowling coach Allan Donald and spin coach Rangana Herath had already begun working with the players. By June 6, the selectors should make the squad public.

Shrinivas Chandrasekaran, a performance analyst, will be joining the Tigers tomorrow after working with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League.

Since taking over as Bangladesh's coach in January, Hathurusingha has performed admirably, defeating England at home in a T20I series after losing the ODI series 2-1.

The Tigers continued to play consistently against Ireland, winning the ODI series and one home Test before going on to defeat the same opponents on the road.

Hathurusinga will have a more difficult time winning the upcoming one-off Test against Afghanistan because Bangladesh last defeated Afghanistan by 224 runs in a Test played in Chattogram.

It will be interesting to see how Bangladesh approaches playing opponents like Rashid Khan and Company in the longest format without captain Shakib Al Hasan due to a finger injury.

Director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board Akram Khan, however, asserts that the home team should put home advantage to use rather than fret about Rashid's threat, particularly in Test matches.

"Rashid Khan is unquestionably an effective bowler who performs well, particularly in the T20 format. He does not, however, perform as well in Tests and ODIs because, unlike in T20s, batters are not required to take risks and look for runs against him. We've faced off against him before, so if our batters play it safe, I don't see any major problems," Akram told the media yesterday.

However, the former captain of Bangladesh emphasized that it would be foolish to underestimate Afghanistan, particularly in light of their recent performance in Sri Lanka. He further stated that Bangladesh would have a good chance to exact revenge for their loss in Chattogram during the one-off Test.

"The only test we lost to them was... I believe we were performing admirably until we had a bad hour or so, which altered the game's dynamics and ultimately resulted in us losing the Test. I believe this is our chance to exact justice. I hope we can win this game because we are performing well as a team, especially our fast bowlers recently.
