President Mohammed Shahabuddin along with his spouse Dr. Rebecca Sultana today attended the oath-taking ceremony of Turkey's newly elected President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Grand National Assembly of the Presidential Complex in Turkey's capital Ankara tonight.

Md. Joynal Abedin, the president's press secretary, told BSS that the event was attended by the president of Bangladesh and 77 other world leaders at around 5 o'clock (Turkey local time).

Additionally, attendees included representatives from a number of other international organizations, including NATO and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Later, a unique ceremony honoring President Erdogan's inauguration was held at the Presidential Palace.

President Erdogan greeted President Mohammed Shahabuddin of Bangladesh and other world leaders after the ceremony. Erdogan, his Turkish counterpart, was inaugurated as the nation's president for the third time in a row.

President Erdogan then paid a visit to the tomb of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who founded the Turkish state.

During his visit to Turkey, President Mohammed Shahabuddin is lodging at the Sheraton Ankara Hotel.

The Head of State arrived in Ankara earlier this week for a six-day official visit and to attend the event.

The schedule states that the President will take a VVIP flight (Flight No. BG 208) to get home on June 6 in the evening.
