With an AQI index of 179 at 8:35am on Sunday, Dhaka, the crowded capital of Bangladesh, came in first place on the list of cities with the worst air quality.

According to the city ranking for air quality and pollution, the air was deemed "unhealthy."

An AQI of 151 to 200 is deemed "unhealthy," 200 to 300 is "very unhealthy," and 301 to 400 is "hazardous," posing serious health risks to locals.
With AQI scores of 159, 159, and 154, respectively, Delhi, India; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Kuwait City, Kuwait, occupied the second, third, and fourth positions on the list.

People can learn how clean or polluted the air in a particular city is, as well as any potential health effects, using the AQI, an index for reporting daily air quality.

Particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5), NO2, CO, SO2, and ozone are the five pollutants that make up Bangladesh's air quality index (AQI).

Air pollution has long been a problem in Dhaka. Winter is typically when the air quality deteriorates, and monsoon season is when it gets better.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), air pollution causes the deaths of an estimated seven million people annually, primarily because it increases mortality from conditions like heart disease, stroke, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and acute respiratory infections.
