Liton Das will captain the team in place of regular captain Shakib Al Hasan for the upcoming one-off Test against Afghanistan, according to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon, who made the announcement on Friday.

Shakib broke his finger during the Ireland series and was sidelined for six weeks. As a result, he won't be able to play in the Test, which will begin in Mirpur on June 14.

There were rumors that Liton, the vice-captain of the Tigers Test team, was reluctant to assume the role of captain because he preferred to concentrate on his batting.

The vice-captain will naturally take the helm in Shakib's absence because of his injury. Liton is the Test team's vice-captain, as far as I'm aware. While attending the Bangladesh Cricket Supporters Association's (BCSA) 10th anniversary event on Friday, Papon stated, "I haven't heard anything about the issue.

Although the wicketkeeper-batter Liton has never led Bangladesh in a Test match, he has done so in a white-ball match. Under Liton, Bangladesh defeated India in a three-match ODI series last year, and in 2021, he also defeated the Tigers in a T20I match in New Zealand.
