According to Bangladesh Meteorological Department, a temporary west or north westerly squally wind is expected to hit many parts of the country, so river ports in some areas have been asked to hoist "warning signal no. 2."

The region of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dinajpur, Pabna, Bogura, Jashore, Kushita, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, and Sylhet should hoist riverine warning signal number two, according to the Met Office bulletin.

River ports should hoist cautionary signal 1 because rain or thundershowers with temporary west/north westerly gusty or squally wind at a speed of 45-60 kph are likely to occur elsewhere over the country, it said.
Starting at 5 am today, the warning for inland river ports is in effect until 1 pm on May 18.
