Manchester City defeated league leaders Real Madrid 4-0 on Wednesday to advance to the Champions League final for the second time in three seasons (5-1 on aggregate).

Against the 14-time European champions, Bernardo Silva's first-half double gave City the lead. An own goal by Eder Militao after the break and a late fourth from Julian Alvarez sealed the victory for Pep Guardiola's team as they exacted revenge for last year's heartbreaking semi-final defeat.
After losing to Chelsea two years ago, Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Mansour will now be strong favorites to finally deliver the trophy he has craved since purchasing the club in 2008. Inter Milan will be waiting in the final.

Since Portuguese midfielder Silva beat Thibaut Courtois with a shot in the 23rd minute and then headed in his team's second in the 37th minute, City has gone undefeated in 26 home games in the competition.

In the second half, Real, the current champions looking to win the trophy for the sixth time in ten years, were outplayed by a tenacious City team pursuing a treble.

After Kevin De Bruyne's free kick off Militao in the 76th minute, Carlo Ancelotti's team was unable to recover.

Alvarez, a late replacement for Erling Haaland, added the cherry on top of a special evening for City with a precise finish.
