Mymensingh district administration is taking responsibility for the girl child who was born during a road crash that killed three members of her family on Saturday.
“The district administration will bear the cost of bringing up the child along with all her medical expenses. Necessary measures will be taken after talking to the child’s family,” said Deputy Commissioner Md Enamul Hoque.
He added that many people across the country have come forward to help the child. “It is a responsibility for all to provide assistance to the helpless.”
The child is currently undergoing treatment at Labib Private Hospital in Mymensingh. She is being breastfed by women at the hospital who have recently given birth.
“Necessary treatment has been arranged for the child. She has fractures in her hand and shoulder,” said Dr Kamruzzaman, a pediatrician at the hospital.
On Saturday, the girl child was born during a road accident that left three of her family members including her parents dead on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
The tragic accident occurred around 2:30pm near the Court Building area in Trishal upazila, said Md Moinuddin, officer-in-charge of Trishal police station.
While crossing the highway, a speeding Mymenshingh-bound truck knocked them down, leaving all three family members dead on the spot.
