Farooque, a legendary actor of Dhallywood, has passed away

On Monday morning, Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque, a renowned Dhallywood actor and Member of Parliament for the Dhaka-17 constituency, passed away in a Singaporean hospital.

The valiant freedom fighter breathed his last at Mount Elizabeth Hospital while undergoing treatment around 8:30am.

He was under treatment in the hospital for two years.

The actor’s son Sarat confirmed his death.

Farooq came on the big screen through the movie 'Jalchhabi' directed by H Akbar. He won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1975 for his performance. In 2016, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.
