Sugar prices to go up by Tk 16 per kg soon

The government has decided to raise retail sugar prices by Tk 16 per kg, which will be implemented soon.

 

According to a Tariff Commission document, the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) raised the maximum retail price (MRP) of branded packaged sugar to Tk 125 per kg and loose sugar to Tk 120 per kg on Tuesday.

The MoC adjusted the prices in response to the sugar refiners' proposal to raise them in response to the item's increased global market prices.

On April 6, the government reviewed loose and packaged sugar rates and set them at Tk 104 per kg and Tk 109 per kg, respectively.
