The troubled Blues were held to a 0-0 draw on Tuesday in their first Premier League game following the dismissal of Graham Potter as they wasted numerous opportunities to defeat Liverpool.

Potter was fired on Sunday after his disastrous tenure as manager of the former Brighton team came to an end with a humiliating home loss to Aston Villa.

Chelsea is looking for their third permanent manager of the season after hiring Potter in September in the wake of Thomas Tuchel's unexpected firing.

In the interim, Chelsea's interim manager was Bruno Saltor, a member of Potter's backroom staff.

Chelsea put on a lively performance under Bruno's direction, but as was frequently the case under Potter, they were penalized for their lack of innovative ideas.

Despite Todd Boehly, the club's owner, making a sizable investment in new signings since taking over last year, Chelsea are still 11th, giving them an uncertain future.

"Despite having difficult days, the players maintained their composure. It's a challenging time of year for them. It's amazing how we've recovered from the past few days, said Bruno.

"I asked the players to play from the heart, and I believe that was evident on the field. We create opportunities, and I believe we deserved to triumph.

Liverpool didn't appear much better as their slim chances of finishing in the top four were damaged by going winless for the third straight league game.

Eighth-placed Tottenham, who is currently in fourth place and seven points behind Liverpool, are both vying to make the Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, said, "I saw a lot of great challenges, people flying into tackles, and that's what we need."

"On that, we must base our work. If things don't go your way, you must persevere and take action. Sometimes smaller, other times larger. This one was smaller.

After Liverpool's embarrassing 4-1 loss to Manchester City on Saturday, Klopp made six changes to the lineup, benching Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Of the two struggling teams, Chelsea got off to a stronger start, and Ibrahima Konate stopped Mateo Kovacic's shot at the goal line.

Reece James' powerful goal against Enzo Fernandez was disallowed for offside, and Wesley Fofana's headed opportunity was just wide of the goal.

N'Golo Kante's pass to Kai Havertz of Chelsea resulted in a good opportunity being missed.

Just before halftime, Joe Gomez and Darwin Nunez made Kepa Arrizabalaga work hard to make saves as Liverpool finally made a threat.

Soon after the break, Kovacic missed a golden opportunity, and Havertz's goal—which had hit Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker and rebounded into the net off his arm—was disallowed for handball.

The King Power Stadium saw a 2-1 loss for Leicester against Aston Villa in their first game without Brendan Rodgers.

The Foxes are second from the bottom of the table and have gone seven league games without a victory under interim managers Mike Stowell and Adam Sadler since Rodgers' "mutual agreement" departure.

Ollie Watkins gave Villa the lead in the 24th minute, and even though Harvey Barnes pulled Leicester level after 35 minutes, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall of Leicester was dismissed for receiving a second booking in the 70th.

Leicester's misery increased when Bertrand Traore's curling goal in the 87th minute, his first for Villa since 2021, added to the score.

Leeds defeated fellow struggling team Nottingham Forest 2-1 at Elland Road to move out of the relegation zone.

To put Forest ahead, Orel Mangala scored his first goal in English football.

Eight minutes later, however, Jack Harrison equalized with a close-range shot after Keylor Navas mishandled a shot from Marc Roca.

In the final seconds of the first half, Luis Sinisterra gave Leeds the lead by cutting inside and curling a shot into the far corner.

Forest is outside the bottom three on goal differential, while Leeds is two points above the relegation zone.

After losing to Brighton 2-0 at home, Bournemouth, currently in third place, is still in a dire situation.

Young forward Evan Ferguson's daring backheel gave Albion the lead in the 28th minute, and Julio Enciso's first goal for the team sealed the victory in stoppage time.
