This veteran right-handed batter, who is competing in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) after being "rested" from the team, isn't in the final years of his career, according to Hathurusingha.

Mahmudullah Riyad was left off the squad for the ODI series against Ireland, but Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusingha believes that there is still hope for him.

Although the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) claimed the veteran batter had been "rested," many believe his time with the national team may have come to an end.

This veteran right-handed batter, who is competing in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) after being "rested" from the team, isn't in the final years of his career, according to Hathurusingha.

Hathurusingha stated about Mahmudullah on the eve of the first ODI match against Ireland at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium: "I don't think he is past his prime. Before the World Cup, we're attempting to add more players to our team. We have enough players that we have seen and can count on to contribute if something happens closer to the World Cup.

"We want to take advantage of that opportunity. because the World Cup is approaching and we only have 15 ODIs left. As a result, we are considering a few players who we believe can contribute. Riyad remains on our agenda. We see it this way, the Lankan coach continued.

Mahmudullah has been replaced by Yasir Ali and Towhid Hridoy in Bangladesh for this series. In response to the query of whether Mahmudullah's return would be prevented if someone else performed well, including these two, Hathurusingha withheld some information. "It is very challenging to respond. You want to know what we think of Mahmudullah. Riyad has contributed enough to the team and has a wealth of knowledge. We are aware of what we can gain from him.

"As a result, we hope to see some additional players participate in international cricket. It will be interesting to see how well they can adapt to this caliber of cricket. That doesn't imply that Mahmudullah won't have another opportunity if a player has performed here. He remains a part of our plans. said Hathurusingha.
