Victor Osimhen, a forward for Napoli, scored twice after the break to lead the Italians to a convincing 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday and advance them into the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the first time.

The 24-year-old Nigerian international scored a header in the final seconds of the first half. He also scored in their 2-0 victory over Eintracht in Germany.

In the 53rd minute, Osimhen scored his 23rd goal in 28 games across all competitions this season with a tap-in following a quick four-pass Napoli combination, and Piotr Zielinski then converted a penalty to seal a 5-0 victory overall.

After Inter and AC Milan, Napoli is the third Italian team to make it to the quarterfinals.

Coach Luciano Spalletti said, "It wasn't easy, but we managed to reach a historical goal for Napoli. "I hope we can now enjoy it with the entire team and the supporters."

"It's crucial to maintain the attitude we did tonight. Although we didn't start out with much quality, we did well and didn't give up."

"Osimhen is a powerful football player. We are pleased with his ability to cut behind defenders and the fact that he is now participating more in team activities."

A police car was set on fire and stones were thrown at buses and police during the pre-game brawl in the Italian city.

Due to fears of potential violence, Italian authorities had forbade German fans from attending the game, but some Eintracht supporters went anyway.

The atmosphere in the Diego Maradona stadium was calm, and the hosts assumed command right away.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia came dangerously close in the 19th minute with a darting run into the box, and the Georgian was denied once more in the 43rd minute when goalkeeper Kevin Trapp deflected the winger's close-range shot wide.
In first-half stoppage time, Osimhen scored the opening goal after being given way too much room in the box to rise high and head in a well-placed Matteo Politano cross.

With their two top scorers Randal Kolo Muani suspended and Jesper Lindstrom injured out, Europa League champions Frankfurt needed three goals to win, but they struggled against a well-drilled Napoli defense.

In addition, Napoli's relentless pressing style put them under pressure, and Osimhen once more scored. He became the first Napoli player to score in both halves of a Champions League knockout match when he tapped in from close range to end any hopes of a German comeback.

Sebastian Rode, the captain of Frankfurt, said, "For parts of the game, we managed to keep up with them. "But we lost control before the goals, which destroyed us. In the last third of the pitch, we also lacked punch."

With Zielinski's penalty after the Pole was brought down in the penalty area, the Serie A leaders completed an outstanding two-leg performance.
