Bayern defeats PSG to advance to the Champions League quarterfinals.

On Wednesday, Bayern Munich eliminated Paris Saint-chances Germain's of winning the Champions League by defeating the French club 2-0 in their last-16 second leg to advance to the quarterfinals. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored against his former club.

After Thomas Mueller fouled Marco Verratti inside his own penalty area, Choupo-Moting, who played for PSG in their 1-0 Champions League final loss to Bayern in Lisbon in 2020, sidefooted the ball home.

The six-time European champions won 3-0 overall after substitute Serge Gnabry scored in the final second of regulation.

Bayern advanced to the round of eight for the fourth year in a row, but PSG will have to wait at least another year to win the coveted trophy.

Vitinha of PSG, who won the ball when Bayern goalkeeper Yann Sommer attempted to dribble out of a crowded penalty area, had the best opportunity of a tight first half.

Despite having an open goal in front of him, Vitinha's rolled attempt allowed Matthijs de Ligt to clear the ball off the line.

After the break, Bayern exploded out of the gate, but PSG were given a pass thanks to the clumsy feet of Choupo-Moting, who stumbled before shooting and then blocked a goal-bound attempt from Joshua Kimmich.

The Cameroon striker appeared to have made amends in the 52nd minute, but Mueller's offside flag disallowed his header from a curling Jamal Musiala cross.

Choupo-Moting caused the dam at PSG to burst on minute 61 as Bayern persisted in pressing.

In the penalty area, Mueller dispossessed the awkward Verratti and passed the ball to Leon Goretzka, who squared for Choupo-Moting to double his team's two-goal lead.

With a left-footed shot into the far corner, Gnabry put the outcome beyond question after sprinting onto a pass from Joao Cancelo.

In extra time, Sadio Mane appeared to have added a third goal for the home team, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
