With the Bangladesh Premier League showing signs of life, the off-field conundrums relating to the BPL have also found new jesty talking points with Fortune Barishal skipper Shakib Al Hasan coming up with yet another witty banter in response to a question that asked the all-rounder what he would do if he were to actually assume the role of CEO of the BPL.

At an event in Dhaka, Shakib said that it would be better to be the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board than to take the role of CEO of BPL.

"It would be better to be the president than be the CEO," he told the reporters.

The back and forth between Shakib and the BPL governing council members started on Wednesday, two days ahead of the opening match when Shakib was asked what he would do differently to better Bangladesh's premier franchise T20 tournament to which the ace all-rounder replied, "If I am made CEO of the BPL, it won't take me too many days. I think it will take me one to two months maximum to make everything right. It may not even take two months, even two months seem far away. I would discard everything that happened and the draft and auction will happen anew. BPL will take place in free time with the latest technology available. The broadcast will be good with home and away venues."

On Friday, Bangladesh Premier League governing council members came to a press conference alongside BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury to explain some of the limitations and criticisms of the ninth edition of the tournament.

When the question was posed to BPL governing council chairman Sheikh Sohel, he said the governing council would welcome Shakib as a CEO.

"I welcome Shakib and thank him. If he wants to come as CEO of BPL, he has shown that interest. From the governing council, we welcome him. If he wants he can come and take responsibility as CEO," he said.
