The newly-elected President and the General Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) have expressed their determination to work in building Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's ‘Smart Bangladesh’.

BCL president Saddam Hussain and its general secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Enan made the vow following a courtesy call with leaders and members of Dhaka University Journalists' Association (DUJA) on Wednesday.

DUJA president Mamun Tushar, general secretary Sirajul Islam Rubel and its members were present on the occasion.

Saddam said, "We’ll work to build ‘Smart Bangladesh’ of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's dream. There will always be a strong position to root out the anti-independence forces from this country."

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is talking about ‘Smart Bangladesh’ and they will try to build such a smart relationship with students, he added.

"We’re taking responsibility for the sake of general students, for the sake of implementing the spirit of the Liberation War. We will be responsible for the implementation of the mission and vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina."

"We will try to follow the organisational and constitutional rules. BCL is always sincere in the Dhaka University Central Student Union elections. It is our expectation that not only Dhaka University but also every educational institution should have regular student union elections," he further said.

Wali Asif Enan said there were some press committees in the last committee due to Covid-19.

"The former president and the general secretary were forced to accept the situation. Now this situation has changed. Similarly, BCL will also go back to its golden history under the guidance of the Hon'ble Prime Minister, the guardian of Chhatra League. As long as we are in charge, every week, every month there will be council festivals all over the country," he said.

He also said they will plow the entire country if necessary to speed up BCL.

"As we are partners in all the good deeds of all the units of BCL, we are also responsible for all the bad deeds. We will try our best to present BCL in accordance with the constitution and also free from controversy. In this case, we seek the highest cooperation from journalists," he added.

The new central committee of BCL was announced on Tuesday night.

In the new committee, former general secretary of BCL Dhaka University unit Saddam Hussain and former central Organising Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan were made president and general secretary of the central committee respectively.
