PM opens 100 bridges today

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will virtually inaugurate 100 newly-constructed bridges for traffic today.
She will inaugurate the new bridges simultaneously from her official Ganabhaban residence in the morning.
The government has constructed the bridges across the country at a cost of Tk 8.80 billion.
Of the bridges, 45 are in Chattogram division, 17 in Sylhet division, 14 in Barishal division, six in Mymensingh, five each in Gopalganj, Rajshahi and Rangpur, two in Dhaka and one in Cumilla.
"The prime minister will gift the bridges to the countrymen. We’re waiting for the auspicious occasion," Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told the media earlier.
Obaidul Quader, also general secretary of Awami League, said apart from making road communication smooth and easier by reducing travel time, the new bridges will play a vital role in strengthening the country's economy.
