Sultan's visit strengthens connections between Brunei and Bangladesh: Dr AK Abdul Momen

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen today said the maiden visit of Brunei Darussalam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah in Bangladesh would take the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries to new heights.

He made the remark as he paid a courtesy call on Sultan who arrived today on his first ever visit to Bangladesh, a foreign ministry press release said.  

The foreign minister was comprised with state minister for foreign affairs Md Shahriar Alam and foreign secretary Masud Bin Momen during the call at Hotel InterContinental.      

Welcoming the Sultan, Bangladesh foreign minister expressed gratitude at the auspicious visit and stressed importance of further enhancing the trade between the two countries tapping into the un-utilised potentials for mutual benefit.

Momen conveyed the readiness of Bangladesh for providing required Bangladeshi workforce to Brunei, including professional and skilled Human Resources.

The Sultan admired the Bangladeshi expatriate workers in Brunei as hard working and sincere.

Highlighting the phenomenal socio-economic development in Bangladesh under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Momen also explained the successful handling of the pandemic in Bangladesh.

Taking part in the discussions, Alam apprised the Sultan that Bangladesh was ready for attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and encouraged Bruneian investment in Bangladesh.

Pointing to the ongoing inflationary pressures and volatility in the energy sector, the foreign secretary stressed the importance of a stronger bilateral and regional collaboration to cope with the prevailing challenges.
