Popular dancer, choreographer and actor Shakti Mohan is celebrating her birthday today, on Wednesday, October 12. She started her journey in showbiz as a contestant on a dance reality TV show, only to gain popularity as a choreographer in the film industry. She also went on to become a judge on the same show which gave her the identity as a dancer. Today, her name is included in the list of some of the country’s best dancers and choreographers. But what you may not know is that there was once a time when Shakti could not even walk properly, leave alone dancing.

Born on October 12, 1985, in Mumbai, Shakti Mohan is one of the three ‘Mohan Sisters’. While Neeti is a singer, Mukti is an actor-dancer. The ‘Mohan Sisters’ are four in total, of which, three have made their way to the entertainment world.

During Shakti Mohan’s childhood, she once met with an accident that left her with serious injuries. Her condition was such that doctors had said she may not be able to walk normally again. However, Shakti had not given up on herself. Thanks to her grit and determination, she rose back on her feet again and went on to become one of the finest dancers in India.

It was Zee TV’s reality TV show ‘Dance India Dance’ that saw Shakti Mohan as a participant. She went on to win the season and then eventually return to the stage as one f the judges. After winning the show, Shakti was seen trying her hands at acting with the show 'Dil Dosti Dance'. The serial was completely based on dance and starred other actors including Kunwar Amarjeet, Shantanu and Vrushika in the lead roles.

From there on, Shakti Mohan went on to be a part of several dance numbers in Bollywood films such as High School Musical 2, Tees Maar Khan, Rowdy Rathore, Kanchi and Nawabzaade, among others.

Shakti Mohan choreographed the song 'Kamli' in the film 'Dhoom 3' as an assistant, which featured actor Katrina Kaif. Apart from this, she also set the choreography for Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s song ‘Nainowale Ne’ from the movie ‘Padmaawat’. Interestingly, this song was sung by Shakti’s elder sister, Neeti Mohan.
