476 people died in road accidents in September

In September of this year, there were 407 traffic incidents nationwide that resulted in at least 476 fatalities and 794 injuries.

Of those, 182 motorcycle accidents resulted in 169 fatalities. 77 children and 62 women were among the deceased.

The Road Safety Foundation (RSF) on Monday published a report in this regard. The report was made based on the news published in nine national newspapers, seven online news portals, and electronic media.

At least 103 pedestrians, 62 students, 14 teachers, and 63 drivers and their helpers were killed in accidents during that time.

Apart from that, at least 23 people were killed and 37 others injured in 29 road accidents in Dhaka, the report said.

In the meantime, 78 were also killed and three went missing in nine waterway accidents, while 19 died and six were injured in 21 train accidents.

The average daily death on the road was 16.74 in August, with 519 people killed and some 961 injured in 458 road accidents.

The daily average was slightly reduced to 15.86 in September, as a result of which the death toll decreased by 5.25%, the report added.
