Five people, including a couple held over gang-rape of schoolgirl in Natore

Five people, including a couple, were arrested on charge of abetting and raping a schoolgirl in Natore.

Police arrested Sohan (35), Rony (33), Rocky (35) on charge of raping the victim while the couple -- Mithila and Mridul – for abetting the criminals, reports quoting Sub-Inspector Jamal Uddin of Natore Sadar Police Station.

According to the case statement, the incident occurred yesterday afternoon (September 13, 2022) at a rented house in Halfrasta area of Natore city.

Abir (21), a shop employee from Binodpur in Rajshahi came to Natore with his girlfriend -- an SSC examinee -- to get married.

A local friend of Abir took them to Mridul and Mithila's house in Halfrasta area. But the couple called Rony, Rocky and Sohan at their house.   

The three then raped the student by holding a knife around her neck and also recorded the crime. Later, they demanded money and threatened to post the video on social media.

After Abir and his girlfriend were released, they went to Natore Police Station around 11 pm last night and filed a complaint.

Sub-Inspector Jamal Uddin said, "We launched an operation soon after receiving the complaint. Soon after the incident, two accomplices were arrested from Halfrasta in the city and three rapists from Telkupi Nooranipara."
