Cultural organisations celebrated 'Barsha Utsab 1429' earlier in the morning today at the Dhaka University campus, through various performances. The event marks the first day of the Bangla month of Ashar.
Preserving nature and welcoming the Monsoon, Barsha Utsab Udjapon Parishad organised their 'Barsha Utsab 1429' celebrations at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC). Meanwhile, Udichi Shilpi Gosthi (Dhaka Metropolitan Unit), another cultural organisation, held its programme at Nazrul Mancha in Bangla Academy.
Both the colourful programmes included singing, dancing and poetry recitation. The programme organised by Barsha Utsab Udjapon Parishad started at 7:30 PM, opening with a session of 'Bashi badhon' by famous instrumentalist, Hasan Ali. The programme was inaugurated by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof M Akhtaruzzaman.
"The occasion of Barsha Utshab is celebrated in the capital through different cultural functions. Every year, we welcome the first day of Ashar through the utsab and we have absorbed the main spirit of the event." said the Vice-Chancellor of DU.
Apart from the colourful programme held this morning, another programme will take place at 4 PM inside the TSC auditorium. This programme will be organised by the Dhaka University Cultural Society. The Daily Star
