Secretariat offices start at 8am as per new work hours

Office activities at the secretariat begun at 8:00 this morning as part of government's new schedule in order to save electricity.

On the first day, officers and staff were found present at their respective offices within 8am. Vehicles were also seen queued in front of different entrances to the secretariate premises before that time.

The adjacent road to Bangladesh Secretariat, that used to be crammed with heavy traffic, were also found free.

Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam and Senior Secretary of Ministry of Public Administration (MoPA) KM Ali Azam reached their respective offices before 8:00am, according to sources.

On Monday, the Cabinet Division rescheduled the office hour of government and autonomous institutions from 8am to 3pm.

The changes were brought to take the advantage of daylight and save power and energy.
