IOM reaffirms commitment to support Rohingya repatriation

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Tuesday reaffirmed its commitment to support the repatriation of the Rohingyas to Myanmar from Cox’s Bazar refugee camps.
The commitment came when IOM Bangladesh Chief of Mission Abdusattor Esoev paid a farewell call on Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain at the foreign ministry office in the capital.
During the meeting, the foreign adviser emphasised the need for IOM's continued proactive efforts in protecting the rights of Bangladeshi migrant workers in destination and transit countries.
Hossain appreciated IOM’s involvement in supporting the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs), Rohingyas in Cox’ Bazar, stressing the urgency of their safe and dignified repatriation to Myanmar.
The Foreign Adviser thanked Esoev’s for his active and engaging tenure in Bangladesh and acknowledged IOM’s steadfast support in assisting the repatriation and reintegration of nationals in irregular situations or humanitarian crises.
The IOM chief of mission expressed satisfaction with his tenure in Bangladesh, commending the country’s efforts in promoting safe, orderly, and regular migration as a champion of the Global Compact on Migration (GCM).
Earlier, Esoev also met with the Foreign Secretary during his farewell engagements, said a press release.
