Most garment factories in Dhaka's Savar and Ashulia industrial areas were operational on Wednesday morning, though 25 factories remained closed.
Of these, five factories had declared a general holiday, while 20 were closed under Section 13(1) of the Bangladesh Labour Act, Sarwar Alam, superintendent of police for Industrial Police-1, told Dhaka Tribune.
In an effort to maintain order, additional security forces have been deployed, and surveillance has been intensified.
According to Industrial Police-1, most of the closed factories are garment manufacturing units, while the others produce pharmaceuticals, leather goods and other products.
SP Sarwar said the situation was calm, with no reports of blockades or protests.
He added that traffic was flowing smoothly, and there were no signs of any deterioration in the situation.
On Tuesday, the industrial zone became tense after a sudden clash, leading to the death of a female worker.
Mascot Garments, where the incident had occurred, remained closed.
In recent days, unrest has persisted in several factories in the area. Workers have been staging walkouts due to disputes with factory management, leading to general holiday announcements and, in some cases, indefinite closures by factory authorities.
