Selim Munshi, president of the association (Kuakata Khabar Hotel Malik Samity) announced their decision around 10pm last night, our Patuakhali correspondent reports.
He said that the executive magistrate conducted raids every day against the restaurants. It was found that a restaurant has been fined several times.
"We are being harassed by the mobile courts. So we have taken the decision together," he said.
On August 11, Al Madina restaurant was fined Tk 25,000. The owner asked for 15 days to fix the problem but the next day he was again fined Tk 30,000.
When he could not pay the fine, he was detained for some time, Selim Munshi alleged.
A total of 50 restaurant owners together took the decision at Kuakata, he added.
If the local administration resolves the issue, they will open their restaurants, he also said.
