The Interim Government’s Chief Adviser, Nobel Laureate Prof Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has said that the second victory achieved through the mass uprising of the ‘Chhatra-Janata’ in the country must not be allowed to go in vain.

He made these remarks during a view exchange meeting with students and teachers at Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur (BRUR) on Saturday afternoon.

“Abu Sayeed is a character in the epic. Many poems, literary works, and many things will be written about his life in the future,” he said during the meeting.

“Not only Bangladesh, the students can bring change to the entire world,” said the Nobel Laureate commemorating the spirit of the students who sacrificed their lives during the recent antigovernment movement.

The entire world witnessed how Abu Sayeed received bullets and was stunned by his courageous stance, he said adding that the victory has been achieved through the sacrifice of the students’ lives for the second time.

“We cannot allow this achievement to go in vain,” said the chief of the interim government.

Abu Sayed, a student of Begum Rokeya University, was the first victim who was killed in police firing during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on 16 July.

His death sparked protests among the students which led to the fall of the Awami League government on 5 August.

In his first speech, after he arrived in Dhaka on Thursday, Yunus recalled the supreme sacrifice of Abu Sayed and said he will remain in the hearts of all in Bangladesh forever.
