Bangladesh Cricket Board High-Performance team suffered an eight-wicket thrashing at the hands of Pakistan Shaheens in the second one-day game of their tri-series in Darwin on Tuesday.
They had started the series with a 112-run win over Northern Territory but suffered a complete capitulation with the bat in their second game.
Batting first, HP suffered a collapse from the onset as they lost opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim for four in the first over, followed by the other opener Jishan Alam for a duck in the next.
From the HP top five, only Parvez Hossain Emon [19] managed to reach double digits, and with barely double-figure scores from Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby [12], Shamim Hossain [13], and Abu Hider Rony [10] saw them bowled out for a meagre total of 78.
Mohammad Imran Jr was the most successful bowler for the Shaheens with three wickets, while Khurram Shahzad, Jahandad Khan, and Mubassir Khan picked up two wickets each.
Defending the subpar total, HP pacer Ripon Mondol struck early to dismiss Sahibzada Fahim for a duck in the second over but a 48-run stand between Abdul Faseeh [12] and Usman Khan [39*] put them on the front foot, and despite Ripon striking again to get the former, the latter took Shaheens home alongside Tayyab Tahir [17*] with 33 overs in hand.
