The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has called for forming an interim government at the earliest possible time to accelerate the improvements in law and order situation, and consequently revive the country’s economic momentum.
The prevailing volatile situation is continuing to harm the country’s economy and only an interim government can ensure proper enforcement of the law, the country’s apex trade body said Tuesday.
The interim government has to be formed at the earliest for stemming the continued sinking of the economy.
FBCCI prays for the eternal peace of those martyred during the recent protests against the ousted Awami League (AL) government, extends condolences to the grieving families, and also wishes speedy recovery of those injured, it said.
The resignation of the AL administration following days of violence has spurred revenge attacks and continued the incidence of violence.
In this backdrop, supply chains, import-export activities and other economic functions are being severely hampered causing huge losses for businessmen and entrepreneurs. Unless the law and order situation fully stabilises soon, the economic losses would keep mounting.
FBCCI is determined to work with all other business organisations, and the interim government for returning the economy to its previous state and ensuring national prosperity.
