Asia-Africa BlueTech Superhighway project launched

In an aim to share comprehensive project insights with key stakeholders WorldFish, a global leader in fisheries and aquaculture research, convened a landmark Inception Workshop for the Asia-Africa Blue Tech Superhighway (AABS) Project.

WorldFish hosted the Inception Workshop for the Asia-Africa Blue Tech Superhighway (AABS) Project, funded by the UK government's Blue Planet Fund, unveiling the project overview to the stakeholders in Dhaka on Sunday.

Addressing the occasion, Dr Essam, Director General of WorldFish, said, "Bangladesh has achieved success in fisheries in the past, it will achieve success through this project's (Integrated Multitrophic Aquaculture (IMTA) and incentive-based fisheries."

The Inception Workshop served as a platform to unveil the overarching objectives, strategies, and expected outcomes of the AABS project to the assembled stakeholders.

The project aims to revolutionise aquaculture practices in Bangladesh, fostering sustainable growth and resilience within the sector.

Speaking at the programme, Director General of the Department of Fisheries (DoF) Syed Md. Alamgir underscored the importance of initiatives like the AABS project in bolstering Bangladesh's aquaculture sector.

He commended WorldFish for its leadership in spearheading innovative solutions and reaffirmed the DoF's steadfast support for the project's success.
