The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has taken decisive action against Abdul Monem Group and its affiliated entities, including Abdul Monem Sugar Refinery, due to alleged misuse of bond facilities and failure to pay taxes amounting to Tk674.35 crore.

In an official order dated 23 April, the NBR directed three banks – Dutch-Bangla Bank, Bank Asia, and Jumuna Bank – to freeze all accounts associated with the company and its sister concerns.

Additionally, the regulator instructed customs authorities at all seaports, land ports, and airports nationwide to halt all import and export activities linked to the business identification numbers (BINs) assigned to the group.
