The Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Monday said that action would be taken if anyone would park illegally on city roads during the month of Ramadan.
There will be special measures to control traffic from 3:00pm to 7:00pm during Ramadan, DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman said at a press conference at its headquarters in the capital.
The press conference discussed on overall security and traffic management in Dhaka metropolitan area on the occasion of Ramadan, which will begin today.
The police are working to control the traffic, which is the biggest challenge in the month of Ramadan, said Habibur Rahman.
‘Traffic control requires the awareness and cooperation of city dwellers. Otherwise, the police will not be able to solve the problem overnight,’ he mentioned.
He also hoped that organisations, including the WASA, would stop their work on the road, keeping in mind the interests of everyone in Ramadan, mentioning, ‘The relevant organisation will be informed by letter about stopping these works.’
The police have already taken a plan to solve the problems of robbery in front of various shopping malls, streets and banks, Habibur Rahman mentioned.
