Gazi Group Chattogram hit by virus outbreak

Only 3 days left till the start of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup. But Gazi Group Chattogram, a franchise team for the tournament, has suffered a big hit.
It is learned that one of the team players was tested positive for the coronavirus. Although the team did not reveal his name directly, it was heard that the COVID-contracted player’s name is Mahmudul Hasan Joy.
Cricketers of the five teams participating in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup underwent a COVID test at the BCB Academy on Friday. Meanwhile, all the players from Fortune Barishal, Jamcon Khulna, Minister Group Rajshahi, and Beximco Dhaka have tested COVID negative.
Only Chattogram’s top-order batsman Joy, who was a part of the U-19 World Cup-winning team, has reportedly tested positive for the deadly virus. As a result, the team has to start training on Saturday without him. National team batsman Mohammad Mithun will lead the team in the T20 Cup.
Gazi Group Chattogram has formed a very youth dependent team from the draft of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup. They have spent a total of Tk 1.13 crore o build the team. The team has selected Mustafizur Rahman, the cutter master from the ‘A’ category at the highest price.
