A pink lake has been discovered in Al Saraya Island north of Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently. Photos of a pink-colored lake is going viral on social media after an Emirati teen discovered it.

The 19-year-old Emirati photographer, Ammar Al Farsi from Sharjah, took photos of the beautiful lake located in Al Saraya Island north of Ras Al Khaimah. According to Al Khaleej daily, the size of the lake is 40 meters long and 10 meters wide.

The island is just 100 meters away off the coast.

Dr Saif Al Ghais, director-general of the Environment Protection and Development Authority (EPDA) of the country, said the lake’s pink color could be attributed to the presence of red algae usually found in such water bodies.

He added that the authority cannot conclusively explain the color of the lake till it studies some samples from it.
