Prize Distribution of `Ujan Book Review` Competition 2021

Prizes have been handed over to the 2021 winners and selected competetors in the Ujan Book Discussion Competition.
At a ceremony at the Sufia Kamal Auditorium of the National Museum in the capital on Monday (November 9th) afternoon, Minister of State for Culture KM Khalid MP and South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Lee Jang-gun handed over the prizes to the three winners and ten selected winners. Poet Muhammad Nurul Huda, Director General of Bangla Academy presided over the function.
State Minister for Culture KM Khalid MP mentioned that there is no alternative to culture-literature-art and exchange of ideas to enrich the world of knowledge and consciousness of the people of the country.
On the occasion, the South Korean Ambassador highlighted various aspects of the relations between the two countries and praised such initiatives. He assured cooperation in translating the literature of Bangladesh and Bengali into Korean.
The President of the program while highlighting various aspects of translation said that translation is the first language of the mankind. He said that the Bangla Academy would take initiative in the coming days for the translation of Korean and Bangladeshi literature.
Sultan Ahmed, coordinator of Ujan, said, We want to accelerate the work of building a close relationship between the culture and literature of different countries and the readership of Bangladesh.
The winners of this year's competition are Saroj Mostafa, Elias Babar and Mazeda Mujib respectively. The selected candidates are: Milu Hasan, Zahid Sohag, Sirajum Munira, Sampriti Mallick, Alat Ehsan, Harun Sumon, Rummana Jannat, Fahad Hossain, Hasan Jamil & Abida Tahsin Promi.
Among the winners, the first place winner was handed over Tk 20,000, second Tk 15,000 and third place winner Tk 10,000. Each of the selected candidates has been given a book coupon worth taka 5,000.
This year's competition was on the translation of Korean language literature. The book 'Korear Golpo' edited by Saraishwarya Muhammad and 'Korear Kobita' translated by Chhanda Mahbub were the two events for this year's event. The publication of the two books and the arrangment of the competition were facilitated by the South Korean organization Literature Translation Institute Korea.
