1 person killed, 10 injured as a bus hit a van in Munshiganj

One person was killed and 10 were injured as a bus hit a cement-carrying covered van from behind on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj this morning.

The deceased was identified as Md Ripon (22), reports our local correspondent quoting Mahfuz Riben, warehouse inspector of Sreenagar Fire Service.
Ripon and the 10 injured were passengers of the bus. Seven of the injured were in serious condition and shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, he added.
The accident took place when the driver of the bus heading towards Shimulia Ghat from Dhaka lost control over the wheel and hit the covered van from behind in Bejgaon area around 8am, the fire service official also said.
Police have seized the bus. However, its driver and helper managed to flee the scene, said Md Humayun, sub-inspector of Hashara Highway Police Station. The Daily Star
