1 Man killed, 8 injured at a wedding programme in Rohingya camp

One man was killed and eight others were injured in a clash at a wedding programme in Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya Rohingya camp last night.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Belal (39), reports our local correspondent.
Quoting locals, Additional Superintendent of Police of Armed Police Battalion (APBn-8), Kamran Hossain, said, "The incident took place in the C-block of Rohingya Camp no 9 around 10pm last night. Md Idris and Khaleda Bibi had been in a relationship. They got married four days ago with the blessings of Idris' family, but the bride's family refused to accept the marriage."
Their wedding ceremony took place at the groom's house last night. The bride's family became enraged and attacked the wedding, the Additional SP said.
Mohammad Belal, Idris' uncle, was killed in the incident. Belal's body was recovered and taken to the Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, he said.
Members of the APBn, on duty, raided the camp shortly after the incident and detained Md Anwar Sadeq (35) and his accomplice Haresur Rahman (30). A case is being prepared at Ukhiya Police Station regarding the incident, he said.The Daily Star
