Cyclone ‘Jawad’ weakens into deep depression over the same area

Cyclonic storm "Jawad" over west-central Bay and adjoining northwest Bay has moved northwards further and weakened into a deep depression over the same area.
It was centred at 9pm on Saturday about 955km southwest of Chittagong port, 925km southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 790km south-southwest of Mongla port and 810km south-southwest of Payra port, said a special bulletin of the Met Office.
It is likely to move further in a northerly direction and weaken gradually.
Rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty or squally wind with speed of 40-50kph is likely to occur over north Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted the local cautionary signal No 3.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 48km of the deep depression centre is about 50kph rising to 60kph in gusts or squalls. The sea will remain rough near the centre of the deep depression.
Under the influence of the peripheral effect of the deep depression, deep convection is continuing over north Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
All fishing boats and trawlers in north Bay and the deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast, proceed with caution and not to venture into the deep sea.The Daily Star
