Bangladesh will receive 2.5 million Pfizer jabs on Monday

Bangladesh is set to receive 2.5 million more doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine under the Covax initiative.
The jabs will arrive on a National Airlines cargo flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Florida, US around 10:15 pm on Monday, confirmed Md Maidul Islam Pradhan, senior information officer, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare through a press release.
Earl R Miller, US ambassador to Bangladesh, Prof Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, director general (DG) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and other senior officials of the health sector will be present at the airport to receive the vaccines.
Previously, Bangladesh received 100,620 doses of Pfizer vaccine in the first phase and 1,003,860 doses in the second phase form US under the Covax facilities. Dhaka Tribune
So, Bangladesh has received a total of 49,429,940 doses of vaccines (AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Moderna and Pfizer). Of these, the first dose has been given to 24,197,598 people, while 16,033,971 others received the second dose as well. Dhaka Tribune
